Lays
Lays is a popular brand of potato chips that offers a multitude of different flavors. Lays is the largest brand in Canada and is owned by Frito lay, which dominates the north American chip market. Lays is active on Facebook, twitter, YouTube and Instagram. All of Lays social media networks are integrated with links to each other and to the lays website. I will be going over what lays is trying to do with their social media campaigns.

Facebook: Lays Canada has an active business page on Facebook which is updated fairly regularly, usually around once a week sometimes slightly more often. Each one of their posts has a couple thousand views, a hundred plus likes and around 50-100 shares. The page itself has just short of 7 million likes. Lays post a lot of video’s that involve contests to decide on new flavors or which of their new flavors should be kept.

Twitter: Lays Canada is a regular on twitter with constant updates, since they joined twitter in 2013 they have had over a thousand tweets and currently have 33000 followers and 3600 likes.  Like their Facebook page it is used to advertise their new chips flavors and direct people to their website to be a part of their contests for chip flavors.

YouTube: lays is somewhat active on YouTube with a couple uploads a month, with views ranging any from ten thousand to a couple million. Lays offers a few types of content on YouTube some of it is similar to their other social media networks advertising about their contests and flavors, they also have their commercials uploaded on YouTube and videos using chefs to show consumers different ways to use lays besides just a snack.

Instagram: Lays is fairly active on Instagram with 431 posts and 117000 followers. Their posts range from having 500-3000 likes and are usually under 200 comments. Instagram is used a lot like YouTube is advertising new flavors and their contests trying to direct costumers to their website. Like YouTube they also try to show their consumers that there are other ways do use lays besides as a snack. They have pictures showing lays used in baking or some kind of recipe adding more use to their product.

Lays uses social media as a way to get consumers involved with their company and generate interest in their products. They use highly interactive campaigns that send their consumers to their website. Facebook most likely has the most consistent tractions on their post made through Facebook. YouTube is updated less often but can also be a very powerful tool for lays with millions of views on some videos. Twitter and Instagram generate less tractions than Facebook and YouTube but both serve their purpose and generate traction.
